Moving from one profession or industry to another is a major career change that requires a well-thought-out strategy.
The main challenges faced by people changing careers include acclimatizing to a new workplace, building a new network, and updating their skills to remain competitive.
According to Michael Levitt, speaker and workplace consultant, changing careers should not be as scary or intimidating, as many people have made it a norm.
He shared the following career transitioning tips in an episode of “People in Transition podcast” with Bob Gerst:
– Be confident and energized during the interview. Believe in yourself before the recruiter believes in you.
– Effective networking is about you giving as much as receiving.
– Burnout can happen in your job search. You should pace yourself, eat/drink healthily, and create time to attend to your hobbies.
