The push to decarbonize or reduce emissions across the industrial sector has been gaining momentum over the years.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced that it has set aside $70 million in funding to establish its 7th Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute.
Over the next five years, the funding will be allocated for research and development projects focused on low-carbon process heating technologies.
According to the DOE press release, tackling the climate crisis means decarbonizing the industrial sector, responsible for a third of the total domestic greenhouse gas emissions.
And besides the new institute, DOE also launched a new federal advisory committee, which will help foster innovation to slash industrial emissions and strengthen America’s role as a global leader in the clean energy economy.
