When trying to win over disengaged employees, it’s tempting to assume that money is the answer. But that isn’t always the case.
Checked-out employees have a lot of reasons for feeling disconnected from their work, and many of those reasons have little to do with compensation.
Instead, their main concerns could be:
– They don’t have a clear path forward in their career, or they aren’t getting as much responsibility as they’d like.
– They aren’t learning anything new at work or not growing as quickly as they’d like.
– They feel like the company doesn’t value them as much as their colleagues or other employees in the industry.
To truly re-engage these employees, you need to build relationships with them, get to know them better, and understand what motivates them and where their sense of purpose lies.
Once you understand these things, you can update your culture and processes so that every employee feels that their skills and personality are recognized and rewarded accordingly.
